The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans to replace the bridge over Wildcat Creek on Shady Lane in Richland County.

25-Cent Cross Island Parkway Toll Increase Effective After Midnight Sunday, March 30
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) reminds motorists that the 25-cent toll increase on the Cross Island Parkway on Hilton Head Island goes into effect after midnight Sunday.

SCDOT maintenance crews will be changing signs through Friday informing motorists of the new rates.

It is the first increase since toll collections began on the parkway in 1998. The increase is needed to meet the costs of construction, operation, and maintenance.

The Cross Island Parkway cash, PALPASS, and additional axle toll rates will be increased by 25 cents. The new tolls will be:

Bridge on Greystone Road in Chester County to be Replaced
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans to replace the bridge over Hodges Branch Road on Greystone Road near Great Falls in Chester County.

The bridge replacement is necessary due to the bridge being structurally deficient. Due to low traffic volume and to minimize the impact to property owners, the road will be closed during replacement beginning April 14. The estimated completion date is June 2.

A detour will use S-12-138 (Golf Course Road), S-12-53 (Ross Dye Road) and S-12-75 (Old Winnsboro Road).

Bridge on Big Rock Creek Road in Greenwood County to be Replaced
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans to replace the bridge over Big Rock Creek on Oregon Farm Road in Greenwood County.

The bridge replacement is necessary due to the bridge’s condition, with 32 percent of the timber piles deteriorated or spliced.

The bridge will be replaced by SCDOT maintenance forces. Work will begin April 1. Pending delays due to weather or other factors, the new bridge should be opened by July 1.

Due to low traffic volume and to minimize the impact to property owners, the road will be closed during construction. The detour will use SC 246, Old Highway 246 (a county road) and Siloam Church Road (S-24-101).

F. Hugh Atkins Becomes Chairman of SC Department of Transportation Commission

South Carolina Department of Transportation Commissioner F. Hugh Atkins has become Chairman of the Commission, succeeding Bobby T. Jones whose term has expired.
