Public Meeting Jan. 23 in Newberry County Concerning proposed SC 34 Bridge Replacement project
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a public meeting Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, concerning the proposed SC 34 Bridge Replacement project in Newberry County.

6 am Winter Storm Update Jan. 3, 2018
SCDOT has been working in the affected areas of the lowcountry throughout the night to ensure all roadways and bridges remain open and passable. Wintry precipitation is expected to begin Beaufort/Jasper area and proceed throughout the eastern half of the state during the day. Crews will continue to work in these affected areas to monitor road conditions and apply de-icing and anti-icing materials as appropriate. All interstates are currently in good condition.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling today. In addition to possible icy conditions, motorists should also watch for slow moving SCDOT equipment applying deicing materials.

Engineering District 1 – No winter storm response activity in District 1.
Engineering District 2 – No winter storm response activity in District 2.
Engineering District 3 – No winter storm response activity in District 3.
Engineering District 4 – No winter storm response activity in District 4.
Engineering District 5 – No winter storm response activity in District 5.
Engineering District 6 – Weather Conditions are clear to cloudy, roads are currently dry. Temperatures are between 24 and 28 degrees. District 6 is currently in 12 hour shifts with assistance from District 4 personnel in Charleston and Beaufort counties with 216 personnel working currently. There are currently no road or bridge closures in District 6. All counties throughout the district are monitoring road and bridge conditions ready to respond as necessary.
Engineering District 7 – No winter storm response activity in District 7.

I-95 Northbound Lane Closure on Bridge over Great Pee Dee River January 9, 2018 through March 16, 2018 for bridge deck rehabilitation
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will perform bridge deck rehabilitation that will require a lane closure on I-95 northbound at mile marker 175 over the Great Pee Dee River in Florence and Dillon Counties from Jan. 9, 2018, through Mar. 16, 2018.

SCDOT Crews preparing for Coastal Winter Storm                  
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) crews are preparing for a winter storm that is forecast to move up through the coastal counties beginning Wednesday January 3. SCDOT workers in those counties in the Lowcountry, the Grand Strand and Pee Dee are being resupplied with de-icing materials on Tuesday January 2.

Interstate Lane Closures Restricted to aid Holiday Travel
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) prohibits lane closures on interstate highways for non-emergency highway work during the Christmas holiday travel period. These restrictions will be in place from 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, through 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3.
