Public Meeting Feb. 22 in Berkeley County Concerning Henry Brown Boulevard Proposed Widening

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a public information meeting Tuesday, Feb. 22, concerning the proposed widening of Henry Brown Boulevard (S-8-136) in Berkeley County.

The meeting will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the Goose Creek High School Cafeteria, 1137 Red Bank Road, Goose Creek.  The meeting will have a drop-in format, with displays for viewing.  A formal presentation will not be given during this time.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide information and solicit feedback from area residents concerning the proposed widening of Henry Brown Boulevard (S-8-136), beginning at Liberty Hall Road (S-8-529), and ending at Red Bank Road (S-8-29).  Another purpose of the meeting will be to gather information from the public or any interested organization, on historic or cultural resources in the area.  Representatives from SCDOT and Berkeley County will be available to answer questions.

This major road improvement project is being funded through the Berkeley County One Percent Sales and Use Tax Funds and SAFETEA-LU Earmark Funds.
