SCDOT Performing Traffic Engineering Study on US 29

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has a growing concern over the crashes occurring on E. Wade Hampton Boulevard (US 29) in Greer.  SCDOT’s local Traffic Engineering Office is in the process of performing a traffic engineering study on US 29 between Hardwood Circle and S 42-1722 to determine possible engineering improvements to help reduce crashes occurring in this area. This study will be completed early next week.

SCDOT has begun discussions on what can be done to address crashes in this area with State Representative Rita Allison, the Spartanburg County Transportation Committee and local businesses.  SCDOT plans to meet with the City of Greer on this issue once the engineering study is complete to ensure the City’s concerns are addressed as well.

Any additional information regarding this issue can be addressed by Steve Gwinn, SCDOT District Engineering Administrator at (864) 241 1010.
