I-385 Project Ceremony 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 23

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a project completion ceremony for the Interstate 385 rehabilitation project in Laurens County on Friday, July 23.

The ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the I-385 rest area, located at mile marker 6.

Transportation Secretary H.B. Limehouse Jr. will preside. Scheduled speakers include SCDOT Commission Chairman Daniel H. Isaac Jr., of the 1st Congressional District; SCDOT Commissioner Eddie Adams, of the 3rd Congressional District; SCDOT Commissioner Harrison Rearden, of the 6th Congressional District; South Carolina Senator Danny Verdin, of District 9; South Carolina Representative and Chairman of the Laurens County Legislative Delegation Michael A. Pitts;  Laurens County Council Chairman James A. Coleman;  SCDOT Deputy Secretary for Engineering John Walsh; and Nick Wolf, Project Manager for the McCarthy Improvement Company.

All northbound lanes of I-385 are currently closed, and will remain closed throughout the ceremony. 


From I-385/Greenville: Take I-385 to mile marker six.  Exit to the left for rest area.

From I-26/Columbia: Continue west on I-26 (beyond I-385 split) and take the SC 49 interchange (Exit 44).  Go back across the bridge on SC 49.  Go approximately 5-7 miles and take a right on SC 308.  Take SC 308 until stop sign at US 221.  Take a left onto US 221 and go about 3 miles until you reach the I-385/ US 221 interchange.  Take I-385 southbound back to the rest area at mile marker 6.  Exit to the left for rest area.

Note: The rest area will be closed to all public traffic.  Ceremony personnel will be stationed at the entrance to the rest area to allow media and guests to enter.
