The South Carolina Department of Transportation
(SCDOT) plans to replace the bridge over Big Rock Creek on Oregon Farm
Road in Greenwood County.
The bridge replacement is necessary due to the bridge’s condition, with 32 percent of the timber piles deteriorated or spliced.
The bridge will be replaced by SCDOT maintenance forces. Work will begin
April 1. Pending delays due to weather or other factors, the new bridge
should be opened by July 1.
Due to low traffic volume and to minimize the impact to property owners,
the road will be closed during construction. The detour will use SC
246, Old Highway 246 (a county road) and Siloam Church Road (S-24-101).
