Public Meeting Tuesday, April 24, in Darlington County Concerning US 401 (Lamar Highway) Bridge Replacements

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a public information meeting Tuesday, April 24, in Darlington County concerning proposed bridge replacements along US 401 (Lamar Highway).

The meeting will be between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Darlington High School Cafeteria, 525 Spring St., Darlington. The meeting will have a drop-in type format with displays for viewing.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide information and solicit input from area residents concerning proposed replacement of:

 1) US 401 High Hill Creek Bridge

 2) US 401 Jeffries Creek Bridge

 3) US 401 Lake Swamp Bridge, located approximately four miles southwest of Darlington.

Another purpose of the meeting will be to gather information from the public or any interested organization of historic or cultural resources in the area.  Representatives of SCDOT will be available to discuss the project and proposed detour with interested citizens on an individual basis. Maps illustrating the proposed detour will also be available.
