SCDOT Announces Four Projects Identified For FY 2017 Transportation Alternatives Program

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is providing public notification of four (4) projects identified for possible inclusion in the Fiscal Year 2017 Transportation Alternatives Program.


Formerly known as the Transportation Enhancement Program, the Transportation Alternatives Program is a federally funded program that is administered by SCDOT and provides local governments an opportunity to pursue non-traditional transportation related activities such as pedestrian facilities, bicycle facilities and streetscaping.  These four projects for consideration are:


Town of Cheraw – Market Street Extension Sidewalks

Federal Funds Requested:  $261,907.20

·         Installation of ADA compliant sidewalks along Market Street Extension,

beginning at Claremont Street and ending at Moffat Road.


Clemson University – Clemson University Biking and Walking Trail

Federal Funds Requested:  $1,000,000

·         Installation of ADA accessible multi-use pedestrian trail along West Queen Street,

beginning at the intersection West Queen Street and Hopewell Road and ending

at the trailhead of Seed Orchard Road.


Town of Pageland Sidewalk Improvements

Federal Funds Requested:  $187,425

·         Installation of ADA compliant sidewalks along McGregor Street beginning at the

151 Bypass/SC 9 intersection and running approximately 1300 feet in an easterly direction.


Town of Santee – Multi-Use Path Installation

Federal Funds Requested:  $400,000

·         Installation of a Multi-Use path along S-172, beginning at the intersection of

Bonner Avenue and Bass Drive (US-15) and ending at the Town Recreation Center.
