Repairs to I-85 Business Bridge in Spartanburg County to begin Feb. 20

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans to repair the Interstate 85 Business South Bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad in Spartanburg County beginning 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, and ending on Friday, Feb. 24, barring delays due to weather or other circumstances.

During the repairs to the bridge deck, the on-ramp from Hearon Circle to Business 85 South will be closed.

Detour information: Traffic seeking to access I-85 Business South from Hearon Circle will be detoured to Lone Oak Road to I-585 South to I-85 Business South. The approximate detour length is 1.9 miles. I-85 Business South will be reduced to one lane for a small portion between Exit 4A and Exit 4B during repairs.

SCDOT's District 3 Bridge Repair Crew will remove three deficient concrete areas along the bridge deck. Once removed, the areas will be thoroughly cleaned and a concrete bonding agent will be added to the existing deck. The damaged areas will be replaced with new concrete.
