SCDOT Crews Worked Overnight in Response to Flash Flooding in Saluda and Edgefield Counties

South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) crews were called out late Tuesday night, Sept. 27, to respond to flash flooding in Edgefield and Saluda counties, where approximately 7 inches of rain was reported.


The following secondary roads were closed due to flooding in Saluda County; Old Chappells Ferry Road, Fruit Hill Road, Old Charleston Road, Shiloh Road, Bonham Road, Larkin Rice Road, South Bouknight Ferry Road and Pencreek Road. SCDOT crews are working to open many of these roads this afternoon, Wednesday, Sept. 28.


In Edgefield County, the following secondary roads were closed: Goldmine Road, (now reopened by SCDOT), Pleasant Lane (reopened by SCDOT) and McKendree Road (remains closed).
