Safety Improvement Project to begin Feb. 22 at US 17 and Shetland Drive in Horry County

South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) maintenance forces will be removing the median crossover to improve safety on US 17 at Shetland Drive (S-478) in Horry County starting Monday, Feb. 22.

Shetland Drive is located on US 17 between the interchange at Farrow Parkway and the Interchange at Harrelson Boulevard.

Motorists on Shetland Drive desiring to go south on US-17 should use Shetland Drive to Fred Nash to Farrow Parkway. Southbound US 17 motorists desiring to access Shetland Drive should continue south past Shetland Drive and make a U-turn under the new interchange to come back northbound to Shetland Drive.

Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling in the work zone to protect themselves and highway workers.

Once the median is removed, access to/from US 17 will be right in/right out only. The median is being removed to improve safety in this area.
