SCDOT Closes Roads in Multiple Counties Due to Today's Rainfall

South Carolina has been impacted by yet another significant rain event.  An additional 17 roads have been closed in six counties due to flooding or damage caused by the heavy rains that have fallen over the last 24 hours.  The counties that have been impacted are:  Fairfield, Greenwood, Lexington, McCormick, Richland and Saluda.

At least 3 of the flooded roadways have been damaged and will remain closed for repair.  The known damaged roads are:  Murray Lindler (Lexington), West Shady Grove Road (Richland), and Fruit Hill Road (Saluda).  Other locations will have to be inspected more thoroughly once the water recedes prior to reopening to traffic.

SCDOT will continue to monitor roadway conditions and take the appropriate steps to close roadways as necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public.  SCDOT Maintenance crews will begin to make repairs as soon as conditions allow.  SCDOT staff will continue to respond to issues as they arise throughout the holidays.

SCDOT reminds motorists to please use caution when driving in affected areas.
