The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a public information meeting Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, concerning proposed intersection improvements at SC 14 and Bethel Road, SC 14 and Five Forks Road, and Five Forks Road and Parkside Drive in the City of Simpsonville in Greenville County.
The meeting will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of Monarch Elementary School, 224 Five Forks Road in Simpsonville. The meeting will have a drop-in type format with displays for viewing and citizens will have the opportunity to provide written comments. Project information, including meeting materials and comment forms will also be available on the SCDOT website (http://www.scdot.org, Public Hearings Quicklink).
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity to review and discuss individually with representatives from SCDOT the proposed intersection improvements. Dual left turn lanes would be constructed on Bethel Road at SC 14 and on Five Forks Road at SC 14. An additional lane would be constructed on both sides of SC 14, between the two intersections, to function as a receiving lane and right turn lane. The project would include concrete curb and gutter and sidewalks along SC 14 between the two intersections. The project also includes realigning Parkside Drive at Five Forks Road and constructing turning lanes. These improvements are needed to accommodate current and future traffic at these intersections. Another purpose of the meeting is to gather information from the public or any interested organization on historic or cultural resources in the area. Personnel from and representing SCDOT will be available to answer questions and discuss the project with interested citizens on an individual basis.
