The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled a public information meeting in Aiken County Thursday March 5, 2015, concerning the proposed intersection improvement of Storm Branch Road (S-145) and Pine Log Road (S-65).
The meeting will be between 5 pm and 7 pm in the Education Center at Caper's Chapel United Methodist Church, 2431 Storm Branch Road, Beech Island. The meeting will have an informal drop-in format with displays for viewing.
SCDOT is currently developing plans to improve the intersection of Storm Branch Road (S-145) and Pine Log Road (S-65). The proposed design is to convert the S-145 and S-65 intersection to a single lane modern roundabout. The scope of the project is to improve the safety of the intersection by reducing the occurrences of crashes and decreasing the potential for future crashes.
The meeting is intended to provide information concerning the proposed project, roundabouts and to solicit input from area residents. Representatives from SCDOT will be available to discuss the project with interested citizens on an individual basis. The meeting will also be used to gather information on historic or cultural resources in the area. Maps and drawings of the proposed improvements will be available, and citizens may ask questions and provide comments regarding the possible social, economic and environmental effects of the project.
For more information, the public may contact SCDOT Program Manager Casey Lucas at (803) 737-1087 in Columbia. Persons with disabilities who may require special accommodations should contact Heather Robbins at (803) 737-1399.
