Bridge Replacement in Kershaw County

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans to replace the bridge on McDowell Road (S-28-621) over Little Flat Rock Creek in Kershaw County.

SCDOT Maintenance Forces rated the bridge as structurally deficient. The project is tentatively scheduled to begin on Dec. 29, 2014. Barring any unforeseen delays, the bridge should be reopened to traffic by approximately Apr. 29, 2015. The bridge is being replaced with a new 150 foot hollow core slab bridge.

The proposed detour route is Flat Rock Road (S-28-58) and Demascus Church Road (S-28-40) with an overall travel length of 4.49 miles.
