SCDOT is the first state DOT in the nation to receive approval of the Agreement that manages
federally funded programs for transportation projects
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is the first state transportation department since enactment of MAP-21 to receive approval of its Stewardship & Oversight agreement from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The Agreement is required by law under Section 106 of Title 23 and replaces a previous version executed in November 2007.
The Stewardship & Oversight Agreement documents the roles and responsibilities of the FHWA's South Carolina Division Office and the SCDOT concerning project approvals and oversight responsibilities to efficiently and effectively deliver federally funded highway projects that represent approximately 60% of SCDOT's annual program.
This Agreement will facilitate coordination between SCDOT and FHWA to further enhance effective delivery of the Federal-aid Highway Program in South Carolina.
