The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCOT) has scheduled a public information meeting Tuesday, Sept. 24, concerning the proposed College Street (S-642) bridge replacement in Newberry County.
The drop-in meeting will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Newberry City Hall, 1330 College St., Newberry. Informal written and verbal comments will be collected during the meeting. A brief presentation regarding the proposed project will be given at 6 p.m.
The meeting is intended to provide information and solicit feedback from area residents concerning the proposed College Street (S-642) bridge replacement over North Branch Scotts Creek.
The bridge is proposed to be replaced in the existing location. During construction, a temporary detour is anticipated. Additional right-of-way is anticipated. Another purpose of the meeting will be to gather information from the public or any interested organization on historic or cultural resources in the area. Personnel from SCDOT will be available to answer questions.
