SCDOT Schedules Lane Closures for Repairs on I-85 Spartanburg County

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has scheduled lane closures on a section of I-85 in Spartanburg County to make repairs to the center and outside Northbound lanes. The work is necessary due to settling in a section of concrete in that lane.

  • Starting Friday August 23th at 10:00 pm, I-85 Northbound will be reduced to one lane in Spartanburg County for the repairs. The two closed lanes will remain closed until repairs are complete.
  • The lane restrictions will take place between the 75 and 76 mile marker which is between Hwy 9 and Business 85.
  • Both the right and center lanes will be closed for approximately 16 hours for demolition and installation of new slabs.
  • Once the curing process is complete and inspected to make sure the work has been done properly, all lanes will be open.
  • SCDOT anticipates all lanes being available for traffic around noon on Saturday August 24th, 2013.
  • All entrance and exit ramps will remain open and during the construction process.

SCDOT encourages motorists to utilize the 511 Traveler Information System and monitor its digital message boards for information about possible delays during the construction period. Business 85 can be used as an alternate route to avoid the construction.
