Southbound Lanes to Re-Open on Portion of I-77 in York County After Bridge Deck Repairs Completed Ahead of Schedule

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announces the re-opening of two lanes on a portion of Interstate 77 southbound in York County to occur by 5:30 p.m. today, July 25, after repairs are completed to the bridge deck over the Catawba River.

Repairs by SCDOT Maintenance forces were completed ahead of schedule. The repairs were originally expected to be finished by Monday morning, July 29.

A hole in the bridge deck at mile marker 82.5 was found Wednesday during an SCDOT inspection of bridge decks from the NC line to Columbia. The hole was the result of aging infrastructure.
