SCDOT Office of Public Transit Announcement of Funding Opportunities for SFY2013 – 2014 Call for Projects
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is announcing the availability of information and applications for Federal Transit Administration (FTA) financial assistance to support public and human services transportation within the State of South Carolina.  The State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2013-2014 funding announcements, information and applications can be accessed through the SCDOT website at http://www.scdot.org/getting/publicTransit.aspx.     
 
This call for projects announces:
 
FFY2013 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individual with Disabilities (MAP-21) (Rural and Small Urbanized Areas) – Section 5310
 
FFY2013 Formula Grants for Rural Areas Program (MAP-21) - Section 5311
 
FFY2011 & FFY2012 Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) for Rural and Small Urbanized Areas
(SAFETEA-LU) - Section 5316
 
FFY2011 & FFY2012 New Freedom Program (NF) for Rural and Small Urbanized Areas
(SAFETEA-LU) - Section 5317
 
The estimated total SFY2013-2014 apportionments available for Sections 5310 and 5311 is based on Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2013 funding authorized under the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) and as appropriated pursuant to Continuing Appropriations Resolution, 2013 (CR), as authorized by the United States Congress (approximately six months of funding).  These funds will be allocated to preserve and protect existing human service and public transportation projects in South Carolina.  
 
This announcement for SFY2013-2014 Sections 5316 and 5317 projects utilize FFY2011 and FFY2012 program funds authorized under the Federal Transportation Authorization Bill: Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), but previously unobligated to eligible projects.  These funds are available to support eligible rural and small urbanized area JARC and NF projects. 
 
Application Due Dates:
 
            Sections 5310, 5316 and 5317:             February 20, 2013 to SCDOT and Regional Council of Governments
Section 5311:  March 1, 2013 to SCDOT
 
Applications received by the stated due date will be reviewed and considered for funding by SCDOT’s Office of Public Transit.  Eligible project recommendations are expected to be presented to the SCDOT Commission in March 2013 and appropriate public comment solicited.  Upon approval by the SCDOT Commission, successful applicants will be informed of funding awards.  The project period of performance is SFY2012 – 2013 (July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2014).
