US 701 Bridge Repairs Completed Ahead of Schedule
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announced Thursday, Dec. 20, the completion of repair work to the US 701 bridge at the Horry-Georgetown county line at the Great Pee Dee River over Yauhannah Lake.
The work was completed nearly two weeks ahead of schedule.
Built in 1953, the bridge required improvements to two areas to stop its foundation from settling. SCDOT’s contractor, Cape Romain Contractors, erected steel beams to hold the spans in place.
