SCDOT Schedules Lane Closures for Repairs on I-85 Spartanburg County

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is announcing a schedule of lane closures on a section of I-85 in Spartanburg County to make repairs to the outside Northbound lane. The work is necessary due to settling in a section of concrete in that lane.
·         Starting Sunday December 2nd at 8:00 pm, I-85 Northbound will be reduced to one lane in Spartanburg County for the repairs. The two closed lanes will remain closed until repairs are complete.
·         The lane restrictions will take place between the 76 and 77 mile marker which is between Hwy 9 and Business 85.
·         Both the right and center lanes will be closed for approximately 36 hours. The right lane will be closed for an additional 48 hours to allow the new concrete to cure.
·         Once the curing process is complete and inspected to make sure the work has been done properly, all lanes will be open.

·         SCDOT anticipates all lanes being available for rush hour traffic on the morning of Thursday, December 6, 2012.

·         All entrance and exit ramps will remain open and during the construction process.
SCDOT encourages motorists to utilize the 511 Traveler Information System and monitor its digital message boards for information about possible delays during the construction period. Business 85 can be used as an alternate route to avoid the construction.
