Georgetown County US 17 Median Improvements Project Update

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) hosted a second public information meeting on April 5, 2012 for the US 17 Median Improvement project that will extend from Waverly Road to Baskervill Drive in Georgetown County.
Three concept alternatives were presented at the meeting for public viewing, and public comments regarding the project alternatives were received through April 19, 2012. Based on these comments, a conceptual plan was selected for further evaluation during the environmental process.
The recommended plan maintains existing US 17 traffic signals at Waverly Road/North Causeway Drive and at Martin Luther King Drive/Brown Lane while adding new traffic signals at U.S. Post Office/Lachicotte Drive and at Hotel Drive/Jetty Drive.
The recommended conceptual plan can be downloaded from www.gsats.org. A printed version of the plan is also available locally at the Georgetown County Planning Department located at 129 Screven Street, 2nd floor, Room 222 in Georgetown.
This concludes the public involvement phase of the project. The anticipated schedule for remaining phases of the project is as follows:
